Chills and Thrills Return: Melaleuca Halloween 2021
As superheroes, princesses, and all kinds of creatures descended on Melaleuca Global Headquarters, screeches filled the air—screeches of delight, that is. After a hiatus in 2020, Melaleuca’s Halloween tradition returned in a big way this year.
As in year’s past, each department is assigned an area to decorate along the trick-or-treat path. The employees in that department come together to choose a theme and bring it to life. Employees took to the parking lot to set up an elaborate trunk-or-treat style event rather than the typical indoor path. The warm October sun shone down as children and their parents meandered through Old McDonald’s Farm, took a ride on a Jungle Cruise, braved a crew of swashbuckling pirates, and more.
The beloved tradition allows an escape from the ordinary world as children and adults alike don costumes and slip in and out of different lands. While there’s certainly a big candy payout for young trick-or-treaters, children and grandchildren of employees love seeing Melaleuca at play. It’s a tradition that exemplifies the family-centric culture of the company.
“This is my 20th Halloween with Melaleuca,” says Dan Jewell, Marketing Manager of Editing and Translation. “My kids have grown up coming to our Melaleuca Halloween and look forward to it every year. What a great tradition this has been for our family. They look forward to the coloring contest, fun themes, and, of course, the candy! And it’s given me an excuse to dress up and be creative too.”
“Melaleuca Halloween is my favorite part of my mom’s job,” says 9-year-old Noelle Zierke, daughter of employee Lara Hays, who has been coming trick-or-treating since she was a baby at Melaleuca’s Koala Kids Academy.
As in year’s past, treats were provided by the Leaf & Drop Cafeteria for all employees and their visitors. Employees could bring a carved jack-o-lantern to enter the Pumpkin Carving Contest and children could complete an entry for the Coloring Contest.
The Halloween celebration is just one of several family-oriented events that Melaleuca puts on throughout the year to say thank you to its workforce. These events strengthen the Melaleuca family culture—and they’re a whole lot of fun. This year’s event was frightfully delightful!
