Career Fair Gives Opportunity for Melaleuca Team Members to Advance

Melaleuca: The Wellness Company recently hosted a career fair exclusively for the benefit of its existing workforce. The company has a strong promotion-from-within culture and prioritizes growing its Team Members. The two-day career fair was held in Rexburg and Idaho Falls, giving Melaleuca Team Members an opportunity to meet with various department managers to discuss potential roles throughout the company.

Team Members and managers and supervisors can learn about open jobs and discuss the skills and responsibilities that the roles require, as well as career paths and salaries.

Hundreds of Melaleuca Team Members participated in the 2024 career fair, and all of the company’s major departments were represented.

Growing Careers at Melaleuca

In general, Melaleuca Team Members stay with the company for the long haul, almost twice as long as the average tenure in the United States. And The Wellness Company’s emphasis on internal promotion and growth is a significant factor in that their loyalty and longevity.

Every year, Melaleuca has hundreds of internal promotions. In the first quarter of 2024, Melaleuca promoted 109 Team Members. In 2023, 349 Team Members were promoted, and 2022 and 2021 saw a combined 743 internal promotions.

“We’ve had cooks become analysts, forklift drivers develop into scientists and team members from the call centers rise to become vice presidents,” said Melaleuca President Cole Clinger. “Their stories are not the exception. Melaleuca actively trains and develops Team Members and then promotes them to different positions based on their talent and potential.”

Melaleuca’s Mission Statement — “to enhance the lives of those we touch by helping people reach their goals” — isn’t just about helping customers or others outside the company. It’s a reflection of how Melaleuca takes care of its Team Members, such as regular one-on-one meetings between managers and Team Members, in which they discuss career goals, expectations, and opportunities for growth.

Melaleuca managers are encouraged to support the development of their teams by providing them with timely and honest feedback, discussing growth opportunities, and coordinating with Human Resources to ensure interdepartmental transitions are done efficiently.

This event also allows hiring managers to talk to and collect resumes from individuals who are already familiar with Melaleuca’s mission and culture.

$42,080,492 Paid in Longevity Bonuses Since 2007

Such a strong culture of internal promotion and growth inevitably results in long employee tenure. Melaleuca Team Members stick around for a long time, and each year, Melaleuca gives out longevity bonuses to its Team Members. These bonuses award Team Members $5,000 for a five-year service anniversary, $10,000 at 10 years, $15,000 at 15 years, $33,000 ($20,000 net) for 20 years, $25,000 for 25 years, and $30,000 for 30 years.

In total, The Wellness Company has paid Team Members $42,080,492 in Loyalty and Long-Term Contribution Bonuses since the program began in 2007.

In 2023, these longevity bonuses celebrating Melaleuca Team Members reached $3.4 million for 230 Team Members.

Forbes Names Melaleuca One of America’s Best Employers

For four consecutive years, Melaleuca was recognized on Forbes’ list of America’s Best Employers, as voted by tens of thousands of American workers via anonymous surveys.

The Forbes list of America’s Best Employers represents less than 1% of American companies. The anonymous surveys used to gather the data ask the participants questions about their employers, such as company reputation, work environment, compensation, benefits, growth opportunities, and workplace culture.

In 2022, Forbes also named Melaleuca as one of America’s best employers for women, and Melaleuca is the only Idaho-based company that made the Forbes list. In 2023, Melaleuca received the Susan B. Anthony Award from the Alturas Institute, recognizing Melaleuca for supporting women in the workplace, and in 2024, Melaleuca received the Empowering Women Award from Idaho Business Review, which also recognized the company’s efforts in supporting female employees and in Melaleuca’s many female Marketing Executives.
